Pilot Boats

Pilot Boats Gibraltar Limited was formed in 1981. The company operates three pilot boats all designed to embark and disembark the pilots safely and efficiently.

The pilot boats are all Halmatic 35s built by VT Halmatic in the United Kingdom. They operate with a crew of two and can carry two pilots. They have an operating speed of 15 knots and a maximum speed of 20 knots. The boats are twin screw and are equipped with Perkins Sabre 215C engines.

The boats are equipped with two Sailor VHF radios, one of which is fitted with DSC. In addition, they are fitted with Raymarine radars with electronic charts, GPS and AIS. Safety features include a Hadrian Rail, stern lifting davit for manoverboard, liferaft and Engine room fire detection and extinguishing systems.

All boats are registered under the Gibraltar flag and hold valid Pilot Boat Certificates.

The three boats are named, Sovereign Bay, Rosia Bay and Europa, all named after areas of Gibraltar.
